Dianne Cox Sossoman

Dianne Cox Sossoman, born February 8, 1942, entered Heaven on September 6, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Ephraim Donald Cox and Wilma Irene Perkins Cox.

Dianne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Wayne Sossoman; her brother, Kenneth Cox; and her niece, Autumn Cox.

A devoted follower of Christ, Dianne was a faithful member of First Assembly Concord, now known as Multiply Church. From 1983 until her retirement in 2009, she served in many capacities, including as secretary to the church’s founding pastor, Pastor Tom Whidden. Dianne and Larry dedicated countless hours to serving their church family through various volunteer ministries and considered the church an important and cherished part of their lives.

Her love for the church extended naturally into her family. Dianne was passionate about ensuring her grandchildren had the same strong foundation of faith that guided her own life. During their early years, she strongly encouraged, and as her family affectionately recalls, sometimes simply “told,” her children to enroll their children in the church’s daycare and school. This not only helped instill spiritual values in her grandchildren but also allowed Dianne the special blessing of being a regular part of their daily lives as they grew.

Even after retiring in 2011, Dianne continued to find purpose and joy in serving others. She faithfully volunteered with the church’s food pantry ministry, Corner Field Market, and actively participated in the senior adult ministries. Helping others was not merely something she did; it was a reflection of her deep faith and generous heart.

Dianne also treasured the friendships she found through Adventure Ladies, a Multiply Church group that began as a fellowship for widows and grew to welcome women seeking friendship, encouragement, and connection. She looked forward to the group’s many activities, including lunches, dinners, day trips, and time spent together in fellowship.

Above all, Dianne loved God and her family. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built her life, and her family was her greatest joy. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless service, and steadfast love that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Dianne is survived by her daughter, Lisa Spears of Concord; her son, Eric Sossoman and his wife, Beth, of Concord; her grandchildren, Lindsay Spears, Jon Spears, and Nathan Sossoman; her sister, Donna Wilkins (Bill); and her nieces, Hanna Green (Billy) and Stacy Flannery (Brian).

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at Multiply Church, Suite 15, 280 Concord Pkwy S, Concord, North Carolina. The funeral service in celebration of Dianne's life will follow at 2:00 pm, officiated by Dr. Doug Witherup. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

The family is profoundly grateful to the dedicated caregivers at Coltrane LIFE Center, St. Andrews Living Center, and VIA Health Partners Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassionate, dignified, and loving care they provided to Dianne, as well as the support and comfort they extended to her family throughout her journey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dianne’s memory to Multiply Church in Concord and its Senior Women’s Ministry, Adventure Ladies.
