Dianne Maxwell Reichard

March 23, 1944 — April 4, 2024

Concord

Dianne Maxwell Reichard, 80, of Concord passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital. She had recently celebrated her 80th birthday with her friends, family and, most importantly, all her grandchildren.

Dianne had a bubbly personality and a fabulous sense of humor. She never met a stranger and always left a positive impact on those to who she talked. Her strongest passion was her role as a mother and grandmother. Affectionately called ‘Gigi’ by all, she gave unconditional love to all her children, grandchildren, and friends. She regularly bragged about their accomplishments, always had their backs, and was their biggest fan. She attended every game, performance, graduation, party, etc. and was often cheering the loudest.

Her wonderful life included many adventures, such as growing up a preacher’s daughter, and working as a chef, painter, massage therapist, and office manager for an orthodontist practice. She also deeply enjoyed volunteering at Levine Children’s Hospital (holding and rocking premature babies in the NICU) and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Davidson, NC. Many of her favorite memories included time with her family at Hilton Head Island and in the NC mountains.

Dianne had a special place in her heart for all her cats, especially Nermal and Smiley, as well as for hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, pandas, and hawks. An excellent cook, she prepared innumerable meals and treats for and shared many special recipes with her loved ones. Everyone especially loved her pickles and apple turnovers. Her presence will always be deeply missed by our family, and we will carry it on in all she taught us, and in our love and support for each other.

Dianne was the daughter of the late Reverend John Dean Maxwell and Laurie Dell Maxwell and the sister of the late Joseph Maxwell. Dianne is survived by her son, Eric Reichard and his wife, Shannon; and her daughter, Amanda Reichard and her partner, Paul Wright; grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie) Reichard and her partner, Precious Cummings; Georgia Reichard and their partner, Max Morter; David Redmon; William Redmon; and Gabriella Redmon.

The family offers special thanks to Evelyn Schoenberger of Atrium Health Cabarrus for her outstanding, humor-filled, and compassionate care for Gigi in her last weeks.

A private service to celebrate the life of Dianne Reichard will be held later this summer with her immediate family.

Memorials may be sent to Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region, PO Box 220287, Charlotte, NC 28222 or https://www.habitatcltregion.org/support/donate/
