Della Hudson

Della Marie Lefler Hudson, 91, of Albemarle, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Trinity Place, Albemarle, NC. Her memorial service, officiated by Dr. D. Terrell Watts, will be Friday, August 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. Mrs. Hudson was born on August 22, 1921 in Stanly County to Eliza Dennis Lefler and George Preston Lefler. She was one of eight daughters. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church and was employed until retirement at American Efird Mills in Albemarle. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Eben Hudson in 1986 and by five sisters; Estelle Burr, Alberta Mauldin, Lula Shaver, Flossie Turner and Mary Mason. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Hudson Sides and husband, Jerry of Albemarle; two sons and daughters-in-laws, James Allen Hudson and Dianne Helms Hudson of Oakboro, Clyde Eben Hudson and Mary Palmer Hudson of Gaffney, SC; eight grandchildren, Jan Sides and wife, Cindy of Holden Beach, NC, Jody Sides and wife, LeAnne of Albemarle, Jamie Sides and wife, Debbie of Fancy Gap, VA, Deedee Sides of Mocksville, NC, Kelly Hudson and wife, Angie of Albemarle, Johanna Hudson Barbee of Oakboro, Chad Hudson and wife, Kathy and Beau Hudson, all of Gaffney, SC. She had ten great-grandchildren; Alicia, Kaylee and Justin Sides, Chris and John Patrick Aycock, Baylee, Rachel, Angel, Laney and Will Hudson. She is also survived by two sisters; Montize Whitley and Ethel Connell. A talented gardener, she loved growing flowers and vegetables and sharing the bounty of her gardens. She was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable cook. Her family dinners were legendary. The family wishes to thank the staff of Trinity Place for the excellent and compassionate care given Della.
