Debra Lynn Burgess Garrett, 44 years of age, of Camden, NC, formerly of Oakboro, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at home.
Debra was born December 9, 1970 in Stanly County to John Benjamin Burgess of Oakboro and Dianne Little Conner of Monroe.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm, Friday, November 20, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle. The graveside service will be on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 am at Oakboro Cemetery, 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro. Rev. Dale Brooks will officiate. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Claude Burgess; maternal grandparents, James W. Little and Doris B. Myers.
In addition to her husband, Chad, she is survived by her mother, Dianne Little Conner of Monroe; father, John Benjamin (Pam) Burgess of Oakboro; three sisters, Cassandra "Sandy" (Lynn) Harrington of Monroe, Mary Frances (Ed) Ferris of Charlotte, Catherine (Larry) Harwood of Oakboro; two sons, Ashton and Gavin Kennedy of Locust; nephew, Everette Harwood; paternal grandmother, Margaret Burgess of Oakboro; special great great aunt, Macie Tucker of Oakboro; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graduate of West Stanly High School, she graduated from UNCC with a degree in nursing. Previously employed at CMC Northeast, she was working with home health care in the Chespeake/Virginia Beach area. Debra loved working as a nurse, and was very passionate about her patients. She also loved fishing, the beach, sports and the outdoors.
