David was born on April 7, 1953, David Alan Wike passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Kannapolis, N.C. on May 1, 2025. David was a loving and caring brother, uncle and friend to many. He was always looking to help others in whatever way he could. He lost many friends along the way to unforeseen circumstances and poor health but would help others whenever he could and he cherished those friendships. He especially loved his niece Stephanie and her daughter Faith, and son Tad, and loved visiting them in Texas for Christmas until his declining health prevented him from traveling.
David graduated from Portsmouth High School in Rhode Island in 1972 and went on to work in both the Food Services and Cleaning Services Industries in North Carolina. He worked for Walmart and for Troutman’s Barbeque for many years. He loved drinking sweet tea, eating out in his favorite restaurants and snacking on P-Nut M&Ms.
David had a passion for collecting, both baseball hats and other collectibles. He appeared in a newspaper article in Kannapolis with his collection of hats. Since then, he continued to collect and had accumulated many more. Often his request for Christmas or Birthdays was for a specific hat to add to his collection. He also loved NASCAR Collectibles. When he was younger, he would hang out at Charlotte Motor Speedway, enjoying the races, making new friends and getting many autographs. These became part of his treasured collection. His favorite movie was Godzilla, and he collected every version including the originals in Japanese.
David loved tracing the family tree, researching with other family members and making many friends while conducting his research. He enjoyed adding to the puzzle as he learned new facts. We were always amazed at his ability to remember all the facts he uncovered including the exact timelines.
David is preceded in death by his father, Christopher Wike, mother, Audrey Suhr, stepfather, Rock Dial, and brother Jimmy Dial. There is a big reunion in Heaven with all of them, including. David’s precious Albie, his beloved pet.
David is survived by his two sisters, Brenda Hahne and Diahann Lassus and his niece, Stephanie Brasher and her husband Bill and their daughter Faith, and son Tad. David is also survived by his good friend Floyd Osborne. Our family appreciates Floyd for being by David’s side during this difficult time and helping him through the many doctors and hospital visits.
Donations in David’s name can be made to the Humane Society of Concord located at 29 Brookwood Avenue Northeast, Concord, North Carolina 28025 (704-721-6369).
