Cybele Sisk

Cybele “Suzie” Oates Sisk, age 79, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Novant Mint Hill Medical Center.

Suzie was born on December 2, 1945, in Shelby, North Carolina, to the late John Milton Oates and Ethel May Oates. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1964 and went on to marry the love of her life, William Wayne Sisk Sr., on December 30, 1966, in Shelby.

A devoted and compassionate nurse, Suzie dedicated 43 years to caring for others before retiring in 2013. She served in various roles throughout her career and was known by her colleagues as a nurse with a respectful, likable personality-someone who always entered the room with a solution. Her passion for helping others touched countless lives, both in and outside of the hospital.

In addition to her professional life, Suzie was a loving wife, mother, and MeMaw. Her greatest joy was her family, and she embraced every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

Suzie is preceded in death by her husband Billy; parents, John and Ethel Oates; and daughter-in-law Sarah.

She is survived by her loving children, Cynthia Adams (David) of Charlotte, NC, William Wayne Sisk Jr. (Tammy) of Norwood, NC, and Robert Michael Sisk (Lauren) of Concord, NC

She is also survived by six cherished grandchildren: Sadie Sisk, Nicole Sisk, Gavin Adams, Jackson Parsons, Lillie Sisk, and Trace Dorsey; her brother, Robert Oates (Winnie) of Mountain View, AR; and nephews Mickey Oates and Ronnie Oates.

Suzie will be remembered for her kind spirit, deep compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy of service, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Celebration of Life service details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
