Mr. Crawford Lane “Jack” Carter, 73, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury, NC.
Mr. Carter was born January 6, 1950 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Lester Emmett Carter and the late Annie Pearl Collette Carter.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Vickie, and sister, Linda Eggers.
Mr. Carter was educated in the Cabarrus County School System, and served in the United States Army from 1968 - 1971. During his service, Mr. Carter proudly served actively in the Vietnam War, earning the Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 Bronze Service Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Device, and the National Defense Service Medal. After his service in the US Army, Mr. Carter made a successful career in the trucking industry, fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming an over-the-road, long-haul truck driver.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. Burial will be at the Salisbury National Cemetery at 501 Statesville Blvd. in Salisbury on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10:00am.
Survivors include sisters, Carolyn Marie Layburn (Salisbury, NC), Verlie Mullis (Ira; Concord, NC), Brenda Thompson (Concord, NC), and Charlotte Baucom (Concord, NC); daughters, Marisa Walton (Salisbury, NC), Renee Carter Moore (James; Salisbury, NC), and Kathryn Carter (Salisbury, NC); 4 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren; multiple nephews & nieces.
