Craig Harding Eudy, 94, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.
Mr. Eudy was born September 23, 1920 in Stanly County to Macon Freelon Eudy and Bertha Mae Morgan.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Cora Belle Huneycutt Eudy, sons; Jerry (Doris) Eudy, and Dwight (Zelma) Eudy of Albemarle, grandchildren; Cynthia (Todd) Hoffner of Salisbury, Craig (Michelle) Eudy of Raleigh, Steven (Misti) Eudy of Albemarle, and Ria Calkins of Albemarle; six great grandchildren: Owen Eudy, Amelia Eudy, Joannah Gariety, Hayden Gariety, Leanna Eudy, Kimimela Calkin, He is also survived by a sister, Helen Huneycutt of Oakboro.
Mr. Eudy served in WWII as a MP in Nurembourg, Germany during a portion of the war trials. He retired from American Efird Mill Co. after more than 30 years of service. After retirement, he continued working until age 85 at several Stanly County convenience centers for 15 years. Mr. Eudy farmed his family land his entire life.
Mr. Eudy was a life long member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Oakboro and a member of the Ideal Men's Bible Class. He was also a member of Albemarle Lodge No. 703 of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons. He was a 32 degree mason of Charlotte Valley of the Scottish Rite, and a member in the Charlotte Valley for more than 40 years.
Mr. Eudy was a simple man who loved people, was generous, and always willing to help someone in need. His good natured jokes and stories will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 3, from 1:30-2:30 pm in the sanctuary of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro, NC. The service will follow at 3:00 pm, officiated by Dr. Wayne Bennett and Dr. Phillip Hunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will meet at the home, 20173 Friendly Drive, Albemarle, NC.
