Cornelius Waksmunski

Cornelius S. Waksmunski, age 86, of Stanfield, died Monday, December 5, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Cornelius was born June 5, 1936 in Hastings, Pennsylvania, son of Frank J. Waksmunski and Anna C. Beltowski Waksmunski.  Preceded in death by parents; two infant brothers; brothers, John and Chester; sisters, Dorothy, Marcie and Helen.

Cornelius was survived by his loving wife of 58 and a half years, Barbara Wright Waksmunski; sons Frank (Connie), Michael (Jody), Edward; daughter, Jennifer; one granddaughter, Steele Marie Waksmunski; and one brother, Raymond Waksmunski of Pennsylvania.

After serving in the Army, Cornelius followed his career by graduating with a Masters degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He went on to complete 42 years with the Macke Vending Company which changed names several times, as an accountant and regional controller.

When moving to Stanfield nearly 50 years ago, he volunteered and participated in the children's activities and was the president of the Stanfield Goodfellows Club for several years.  He served his church as their accountant and usher for many years and also assisted in preparing senior citizens tax returns.

Friends and family will be received from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle, NC at 522 North Second Street.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, 416 North Second Street also in Albemarle, officiated by Father Peter Fitzgibbons.  Burial will follow in the Veteran's section of  Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee; Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte, Attn:  Steele's Gang, 3900 Park Rd., Suite C, Charlotte, NC 28209; or those of the donor's choice.
