Clayton Eugene Hucks, 65, of Locust, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at his home.

Clay was born April 30, 1960 in Mecklenburg County to the late Laten William Hucks, Sr. and Molly Rowena Hucks.

He led a life filled with love for God, family, and others. A devoted husband, father, pawpaw, and friend, the spiritual leader of his family, grounded in his love for God. Clay and wife Jennifer, met singing in the choir at Central Church of God - a place where both faith and love took root.

Clay never met a stranger and had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued. Through his work building homes, he built far more than structures - he built lasting relationships. Clients became friends, and the crews and coworkers he worked alongside were considered family. He was known for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit. He brought joy to those around him with his corny jokes, love of music, and his deep knowledge of home building.

Clay fought bravely until the end, and now rests peacefully in The Everlasting Arms of Jesus. Though deeply missed, his legacy of faith, generosity, and friendship will live on in the many lives he touched.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Friday, January 16, 2026, at Greater Life Church, 103 Locust Avenue, Locust, N. C. The Celebration of Life will be on Friday at 2:00 pm at Greater Life Church. Burial will follow at the Arlington Baptist Church Cemetery at 9801 Arlington Church Road, Mint Hill.

Survivors include wife, Jennifer Hucks of Locust, NC; mother, Molly Rowena Hucks; son, Logan Isaac (Emily) Hucks; daughter, Leah Monet (Donald) Opp; granddaughters, Zoe Hazel Hucks and Evie Violet Hucks; brothers, Mark Alan (Tammie) Hucks, Guy Rodney (Stephanie) Hucks, and Laten Willam (Kathy) Hucks, Jr.
