Clara Springer Dry, age 97 of Albemarle, NC died September 27,2009 in The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, Salisbury, NC. Her funeral will be Wednesday, Sept 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Albemarle with Pastor John Futterer officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. She was born April 18, 1912 in Stanly County, a daughter of the late Daniel Webster Springer and Christine Efird Springer. She was the widow of Myron Wilson Dry and was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Cannie B. Archer and Henry S. Springer of Albemarle and Zelma E. Ridenhour and Theodore R. Springer of Charlotte. Previous employment was Lillian Knitting Mills, Dun-Rite Laundry and Cleaners, Singer Sewing Machine Co., and W.T. Grant and James Company. She was a member of First Lutheran Church for seventy six years. She was active in children’s Sunday school and women’s organizations of the church. Throughout her life she was a very positive person and by example she provided inspiration and help to family and friends. She enjoyed flower gardening and cooking for her family. The family is grateful for the loving care given Clara by caregivers and staff of The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks for the past eleven years. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mickey Wilson Dry and Dorothy Kluttz Dry of Singer Island, Fl; Grandson, Todd Wilson Dry and wife Nita Gilley Dry of Singer Island, Fl; granddaughter, Tracy Dry Wilkom and husband Gavin Thomas Wilkom of Arlington, Va; four grandsons, Brandon Dry and Chandler Dry of Singer Island, Fl. and Bryce Wilkom and Garrett Wilkom of Arlington, Va.; a sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Springer of Cumming, Ga. and many special nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be made to First Lutheran Church of Albemarle, 230 S. Second St., Albemarle, NC 28001 or The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, 820 Klumac Rd., Salisbury, NC. 28144. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is assisting the family.
