Charlie Lee Dennis, born on July 24, 1940, in Stanly County, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday August 5, 2026. He was 86 years old.
Charlie was the beloved son of the late Wanda Pauline Mills Dennis Davis and Samuel Preston Dennis of Albemarle, North Carolina.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, carrying the values of duty and honor throughout his entire life. A dedicated professional and hard worker, Charlie was a lifelong member of the IBEW Local 379 in Charlotte. Later in life, he brought his work ethic to the Carolina Panthers organization, where he worked until his retirement in 2023 so he could devotedly care for his wife. Charlie was a passionate sports fan. He loved watching the Carolina Panthers play football, following horse racing, and watching drag races and NASCAR. His favorite driver of all time was the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr. Above all, Charlie was a loving husband, father, and a devout follower of Jesus Christ. He attended Multiply Church in Concord, NC. Charlie’s deepest passion was his faith. If you knew Charlie, you knew that he wanted to make sure you knew Jesus Christ as your personal savior and that you knew exactly where your eternal home would be.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lee Hartsell Dennis; his daughter, April Dawn Dennis Sapp (Mack); his grandchildren Bree Sloan (Josh); Madison Brown (Trey); and great grandchildren Peyton and Charlotte Sloan and Hollis Brown. He is also survived by his sister, Marlene Dennis Maners (Clyde); and his brother, Jerry Dennis. He also leaves behind a rich legacy through his many nephews, and nieces.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors at Cabarrus Family Medicine and the staff at Tucker Hospice House.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 10th from 2:30 pm until 4:15 pm at Multiply Church Suite #15 in Concord, followed by a celebration of Charlie’s life at 4:30 pm.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Dennis Family.
