Charles Daniel Helm

April 6, 1955 — April 21, 2025

Concord

Charles Daniel Helm, beloved brother, veteran, and lifelong mentor, passed away peacefully in North Carolina on April 21, 2025, under hospice care. He was 70 years old.

Born with a generous heart and a determined spirit, Charles lived a life defined by service, loyalty, and love for his family and country. A proud member of the Order of DeMolay in his youth, he built a strong foundation of leadership and brotherhood that would guide him throughout his life. He attended University of North Carolina, Charlotte and following this, he served honorably in the United States Army for four years where he further demonstrated his dedication to duty and country.

After his military service, Charles became an active member of the Masonic Order, where he served as a Master Mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and Shriner embodying principles of integrity, charity, and brotherly love. His commitment to these ideals was visible not just in his affiliations but in the way he treated everyone around him — with kindness, patience, and respect.

Charles had a warm and steady presence. Whether through a simple conversation, a helping hand, or quiet guidance, he had a way of lifting the spirits of those lucky enough to know him. He valued loyalty above all else, and his friendships often stretched across decades. He was an educated Geologist and Gemologist and worked in the fine jewelry industry for most of his career. Some might say he was a “Gem of a Man.”

Family was central to Charles’s life. He was a steadfast brother, Uncle Chuckie, “PawPaw,” and friend — always there with encouragement, wisdom, and unconditional support. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched with his quiet strength and enduring generosity.

Charles is survived by his brother H. Marc Helm (Sallie) of The Woodlands, Texas; his nephew Thomas Charles Helm (Andrea) of The Woodlands, Texas and his niece Jean Ann Helm Allen (Jon) of Florence, Alabama.

He was also a proud “Uncle Chuckie” to his great-nieces and great-nephews: Jack William Helm, Caroline Claire Helm, Joey Quay Allen, Cooper Wayne Allen, and Marc Henry “Hank” Allen.

He was also known as “Paw Paw” to all of the special children he came to know.
