Brenda Ruth Hopkins

Brenda Ruth Hopkins, 77, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.

Brenda was born July 24, 1948, in North Carolina to the late Willie Grissom and the late Sara Grissom. She was also preceded in death by husband John Larry Hopkins, and brother Gurney Gibson.

Brenda spent her time doing word searches, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Burial will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Bible Tabernacle Cemetery.

Survivors include daughter, Denise Purkey (Robert Purkey Jr.) and grandson, Brian G. Purkey, great-grand daughter, Brylee, sister Sarah Hinson, brother Junior Grissom, and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be shared to Stanly County Humane Society 2049 Badin Rd, Albemarle, NC 28001 .
