Bobby Britt Hargett, 89, of Charlotte, NC, went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
Bobby was born on April 4, 1935, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Virginia Pauline Schenck Hargett and Charlie Smith Hargett. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joann Hastings.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce Freeman Hargett; 3 sons, Jeffery Dale Hargett of Charlotte, Stephen Ray Hargett and wife, DeLaine, of Charlotte, and Robin Alan Hargett and wife, Arleen, of Belmont; 4 grandchildren, Nichole Hargett, Kurtis Hargett, Jessica Hargett Anderson and husband, Joshua, and Joshua Hargett; 2 great-grandchildren, Katie Joy and Henry; 2 sisters, Nancy Fogle and Rachel Morrow and husband, Warren; brother, Edward Hargett and wife, Phyllis.
Bobby was saved in 1967 and was an active member of Northside Baptist Church from 1967 until 2013, where he served as an usher for many years. Bobby was active with the Jolly 60s ministry at NBC, participated in many trips and socials, and volunteered in the kitchen to help with serving meals. He also worked on the maintenance staff of NBC for 42 years. Bobby was a member of Laurel Baptist Church since 2013. He was faithful in attendance and loved going to church.
In 1997 Bobby retired from Pelton & Crane after 28½ years. He was a machine operator in the manufacturing of dental equipment. Bobby loved spending time with his grandchildren, loved his family and telling stories, working in his yard and flower beds, and sitting in the swing with Joyce drinking sweet tea or an orange soda. He enjoyed classic cars and car shows, listening to gospel bluegrass music, the old hymns, and watching western TV shows. Bobby always enjoyed a day trip to pick peaches, explore a new town or farmer’s market, and find new places to eat. He loved the NC mountains, Gatlinburg, traveling across the US with the Jolly 60s and enjoyed sharing his travel videos with family and friends and telling many stories.
Most of all, Bobby loved to brag on his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He shared with family, friends, and everyone he met about his faith, God’s goodness, and Heaven. Bobby was a people person and even strangers, after a few minutes, heard about God’s love and blessings. His favorite Bible verse was Hebrews 13:5(b) “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”
