Betty Jean White Pope

Betty Jean White Pope entered her heavenly home on January 5, 2026. Betty was born to McCamey Bost White and Vena Anne Garmon White on May 25, 1933, at home in Midland, Cabarrus County.

Betty retired from Duke Energy and later worked at the Cabarrus County Active Senior Living Center for several years.

She loved music and played the piano throughout her lifetime, most recently for Bethlehem Baptist Church. She also played at Southside, Wilmar Park, Pennsylvania Avenue and others.

Betty was married to Kenneth Max Pope until his death in 1992. Her twin sister, Carolyn W. Rabon, passed away in 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother and two other sisters.

Betty is survived by her child Jodi Pope (Cimberly); nephew Jerry W. White (Brenda); two great-nephews, Jeremy D. White and Robbie S. White; and extended family Brenda Cole and Amy Clay.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care provided by Atrium Hospice to Betty at home.

The family will receive friends on January 13, 2026, at 12 noon at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Drive, Concord, NC 28025. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Timothy Walters and Rev. Don Burleyson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, Hwy. 29 N at I-85 Exit 58, Concord.
