Indian Trail

Betty Jean Williamson Treat, 86, of Indian Trail, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Atrium Health Union West in Matthews.

Betty was born January 12, 1939 in North Carolina to the late Wright Williamson and the late Minnie Orgie Williamson.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Jerry Treat; daughter, Lori Treat; and siblings, Donald, Jimmy, Livyan, JD, Bernice, and Irene.

The family will receive friends from 12:30pm - 1:00pm, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1225 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC. The Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1:00pm at Ascension Lutheran Church in Charlotte officiated by Pastor Steve Newberg.

Survivors include daughter, Wendy (the late Doug Campbell) of Indian Trail, NC; Kenny (Jill) of Troutville, VA; and Eric (Sheila) of Stanfield, NC; grandchildren, Drew (Kasey), Verne (Courtney), Whitney, Shelby, Avery, and Madison; great-grandchildren, Brooks, Mikah, Zeke, Ilsa, Jonah, Parker, and Grey; and siblings, Gayle, Cecil, and Wayne.

Betty enjoyed making pound cakes, which she joyfully shared with her friends, family, and church community. Her church held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the fellowship of her church family. For over 50 years, Betty faithfully dedicated herself to her church, serving with devotion and love.

She was an avid traveler, delighting in visits to places such as Alaska, Ireland, Hawaii, and destinations all across the United States and Europe.

One of her proudest accomplishments was that all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren became Christians-something she held close to her heart. Betty shared 25 wonderful years with her late husband, Jerry Treat, who passed away at the age of 43. Their time together was filled with love, strength, and devotion.

As a mother, Betty was both a teacher and a protector. She gave her children the freedom to explore life, yet always provided the guidance and discipline they needed to stay grounded. She raised her family with a careful balance of love, wisdom, and structure-a legacy that lives on through them.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 1225 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC.
