Betty Raines

Betty Cobb Baysdon Raines of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2022, at the age of 92. Born in Cliffside, North Carolina, Betty was predeceased by the love of her life, Thurman Baysdon, parents W. Taft and Era (nee Harmon) Cobb, and daughter-in-law Laura Herbst (Joe).

She leaves behind her sons Lee (Kathy) of Cambridge, England, and Joe of Portland, Oregon, her daughter Era “Lori” (Jennifer Norman) of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandchildren Justin, David, and Bryan Brooks, and Cheyenne, James, and Mia Norman, and five great-grandchildren.

Betty was a career schoolteacher, a pianist, a tutor, a mentor, and a lifelong volunteer. She gave her time and resources freely to anyone in need. She was a kind, gentle, loyal, and poised woman adored by her family, friends, students, church members, and her nurses and caretakers later in life.

A graveside service will be held at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro, North Carolina on Friday, January 6th, 2023, at 2pm. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, North Carolina is servicing the Baysdon family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the cause of your choice.
