Betty Kirby Bennick, 91, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina went to her eternal home on Saturday, April 4, 2026 after just several weeks of declining health. Betty was born on February 15, 1935 in Concord to the late Samuel Franklin and Cora Retha Kirby. She loved her family and was a second mother to her brothers, the late Bobby Kirby, Frances, and her younger brother, George "Frankie" (PJ) of Gastonia. She married her childhood sweetheart, the late Paul Nathan Bennick in 1955 and from that union came her daughter and two loving sons.
Betty was a fabulous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and a friend to many. Her brilliant smile and kind funny ways drew others to her almost immediately. She loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially making trips to the mountains. Her favorite place was the Shenandoah Valley in Massanutten, Virginia.
Betty, with her late husband, Paul, spent nearly 40 years living at Ocean Isle Beach where she leaves a host of friends, neighbors, and extended "family" members.
Left to cherish every memory and fun moment are her children, Carol (Tim) Bost of Winston Salem, David (Suzann) Bennick of Concord, and Chuck Bennick of Concord. She also leaves her granddaughters, Jessica (Matthew) Raborn and Laresey (Cap) Hickman. Betty adored her great-grands: Cora Brooke and Elisyn Olivia Raborn, as well as, Endyia Jones, Emani JOnes, Harmeni Jones, and Diamond Jones. Her great-great-granddaughter, Malani, was also special to her.
Dear adopted family members who assisted Mom and always made her laugh are Suzanne and Jeff Hege of Concord, Tara and Gene Whitley of Myrtle Beach, Luann Laundcher of York, SC, and Carrie May of Leland, NC. Special aunts of Betty, Joann Furr and Doris Williams made memories that will forever be cherished.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 At 3:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, North Carolina.
