Bernard Donachie, Sr

Bernard John “Bernie” Donachie, Sr., 80, of Concord, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012 at his home. A Christian Mass of Remembrance will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 108 St. Joseph Street Kannapolis on Friday, November 9th at 2 PM with Father Al Riquelme, C.Ss.R celebrant. Bernie was born on March 22, 1932 in Kingston, PA to the late Bernard Alloyseus and Ruth Kelly Donachie. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Mr. Donachie served in the US Navy from 1950 until 1954, most proudly on the USS Missouri BB63. He was a member of Holy Name Society St. Margaret Mary Church, Knights of Columbus, and The Apalachin Lions Club. Bernie retired from A & P and IBM. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Theresa Helen O’Hara Donachie of the home; children, Mary Theresa Carpenter, Bernie Donachie II and wife Anita, Jack Donachie and wife Mary Ellen, and Cathleen Hester and husband David; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
