Bennie Lee Almond, 79 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.
Bennie was born June 3, 1935 in Stanly County to the late Martin Luther Almond and Bessie Hinson Almond.
He was also preceded in death by one sister Louise Philmon and one brother Brady Almond .
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Monday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. James Lopes . Burial will follow in the Oakboro Cemetery at 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro.
Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years come December 10th , Dorothy Morton Almond of the home; daughters, Diane Smith and husband Tim and Renee Honey and husband Charles all of Oakboro; six grandchildren, Michael Lee Smith of Oakboro, Cheri Milano and husband Rob of Badin, Leah Swink and husband Jeffrey of Oakboro, Aaron Honey and wife Lindsey of Whispering Pines, Adam Honey and Travis Honey both of Oakboro; and three great-grandchildren Melanie and Judson Swink and Daniel Milano.
Bennie was a loving husband and grandfather and loved to garden. When his health permitted, he operated Almonds Tack Shop and worked on saddles and harnesses. He attended Oakboro Church of God.
