Barbara Sedergren

Barbara Ann Lockavitch Sedergren, 86, of Concord, NC went Home to Jesus on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Barbara was born August 31, 1936, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph Francis Lockavitch and the late Tessie Lockavitch. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Ronald Lloyd Sedergren.

Survivors include daughter, Kim Proulx and husband Fred of Kennesaw, GA; son, Ronald Sedergren and wife Lori of Glastonbury, CT; son, Michael Sedergren of South Hadley, MA; son, William "Bill" Sedergren and wife Lisa of Richfield, NC; grandchildren, Elise Phillips and husband Shane of Suwanee, GA; Michael Proulx and wife Tonda of Concord, NC; Lauren Proulx and fiancé Robert Carpenter of Roswell, GA; Zachary Sedergren and wife Caitlin of East Hartford CT; Alexander Sedergren and fiancée Brielle of Glastonbury, CT; Sam Sedergren of Windsor, CT; Michael Sedergren, Jr. of Windsor, CT; Nathaniel Sedergren and wife Catherine of Lexington, SC; Logan Sedergren, Cameron Sedergren, Hunter Sedergren, Addison Sedergren, Savannah Sedergren, all of Richfield, NC; six beautiful great grandchildren, Ella, Karsyn, Weston, Banks, Henry and Beau; brother, Dr. Joseph Lockavitch and wife Angela of Concord, NC; nieces Tess Ward (husband Marshal), Jessica Miller (husband Adam) and Rachel McWaters (husband Jackson) all of Concord, NC; nephews Alec Lockavitch (wife Dawn) and Frank Lockavitch of Concord, NC.

Barbara moved down to the Concord area in 1992 from South Hadley, MA to be with her family. In Concord, she became a Home Health Nurse with Cabarrus Health Alliance for many years. Barbara was very active in her church where she served with Mary’s Visitors. She loved reading, attending performances at the Old Courthouse Theater, and spending time with her family, friends, and pets Jessie, Buddy, and Napoleon. Barbara was also a great supporter of CVAN and the SPCA. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at St. James The Greater Catholic Church, 139 Manor Ave. SW, Concord, NC 28025. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. James The Greater Catholic Church, officiated by Father Jerome Chavarria. Burial will take place at the St. James The Greater Catholic Church Cemetery at 2323 Gold Hill Rd., Concord for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James the Greater Catholic Church; CVAN; or an animal shelter of your choice.
