Barbara Lane

Barbara Elizabeth (Hough) Lane, age 82, of Concord, N.C., died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Heritage at Town Center in Harrisburg, N.C. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lane was a graduate of Bethel High School and High Point College, where she was a member of the Sigma Alpha Phi social sorority and was elected in her senior year to be in "Who's Who Among American College Students." She taught in Asheboro and Raleigh schools and was an Internal Revenue Investigator for 17 years. The family will meet at the home. Born in Cabarrus County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Preslar Hough and the late Mamie Estell (Newell) Hough. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Randolph Lane, husband Clarence "Tink" Lane and a brother Charles Allen Hough. She is survived by her Daughter-Jane L. Burckhalter & husband Don of North Augusta, S.C. Son-Richard Allen Lane & wife Cheryl of Cumming, Ga. Grandchildren-Robbie Lane and wife Jessica, Catie Lane, Ginnie Lane and Tommie Lane Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home - Midland, PO Box 100, Midland, N.C. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, June 5, 2009 at Bethel United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be at Bethel United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM Friday, June 5, 2009 , Rev. Mark Clontz officiating. Interment will be at Asheboro City Cemetery in Asheboro, N.C.
