Avis Morgan
March 19, 1934 — October 29, 2015
Avis Jane Morgan "NANA", 81 years of age, of Midland, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with ALS. The world became a little sadder, and Heaven a little sweeter.
Mrs. Morgan was born March 19, 1934 in Fairview, NC to the late Espy Sylvester Baucom and the late Ida Jane Baucom. Survivors include her husband of 65 1/2 years, Gilbert D. Morgan of Midland, NC; Roger Morgan and wife Libby; Pamela Little; Bart Tolson and wife Edie; Trivia Morgan; Tai Little and husband Thuy Thammavongsa; Kayla Tolson; Serenity Douglas; Patience Thammavongsa; Ella Hamrick; and Khamsone Thammavongsa.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Avis was an avid gardener, with a love for all types of flowers. She will be remembered for her green thumb and the wonderful cakes she made. She had a tremendous will power that helped her overcome breast cancer, a stroke, and to help fight a long battle with ALS.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. A graveside service will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, at Hwy. 29N at I85, Exit 58.
