Anthony Todd Rucker passed peacefully in his sleep on November 24th 2025 after a difficult battle with ALS; his mortal body unable to match his spirit's strength or passion.
Born in Lexington KY on August 5th 1969, Todd took to life with humor and vigor that followed him to his final years. His early life was spent in Kentucky surrounded by his family, he often recalled joyful Sundays at Berea Christian Church that started his journey with the Lord. But only after moving to Concord NC in his teenage years did Todd find his permanent home. There he found his true life long friends. He, his brother Tommy, and many other boys in biking distance would play ball until midnight. A 35-year-old handmade basketball goal still hangs in a tree in what is now his home's backyard. Todd, along with his brother, went on to coach teams of boys and girls for many years. He could often be found running the local basketball gym, offering lessons and pick up games to anyone that walked in. At the age of 24, he landed a date with his HR manager, taking her hand in marriage less than a year later. Following the birth of their son, Todd joined Hendrick Motorsports and worked his way up to the position of Senior Buyer. There he met his second group of life long friends, sharing endless laughs and memories, on and off the clock. Todd spoke often about how blessed he was to have family and friends in his life, while proving time and time again that he'd do anything in his power to aid them.
Todd joins his parents, John Thomas Rucker Sr. and Willanna Johnson Rucker, and brother, John Thomas 'Tommy' Rucker Jr., aside many friends and family in the afterlife; leaving his wife, Andrea Beth Efird Rucker, and son, Andre Todd Rucker, to continue his legacy alongside his sisters, Martina Drye (Robert 'Danny') and Teresa Helms (Robert), his sister-in-law, Linda Rucker, his niece and nephews, Maranna Drye, MacKenzie Drye (Tristina), John Thomas Rucker III, William Rucker, Greer Helms, and Grant Helms, his surviving aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with so many friends.
Those truly blessed by Todd's existence are us who continue to carry his wisdom and jokes to those who did not have the honor of knowing him. Todd's family will receive friends Sunday, November 30th, at Hartsell funeral home in Harrisburg from 4-7pm. His service will be Monday, December 1st, at 1pm in the same location. The service will be webcast. In lieu of flowers, Todd's family is requesting donations be made to the Joe Martin Foundation , the ALS Foundation , and the Humane Society for the support given during his illness and for his love of all things furry.
