Anna Hagler Melvin

  Anna Hagler Melvin, formerly of Harrisburg, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home in Oakwood, Georgia, on July 18th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born on August 9, 1945, in Concord, North Carolina, the youngest of three children born to Clell and Beulah Hagler. She grew up in Cabarrus County and carried throughout her life the warmth, strength, and faith that were instilled in her from an early age.

  She attended Appalachian State University, then known as Appalachian State Teachers College, and later enjoyed a successful career with Fieldcrest Cannon, where she worked in marketing for many years before retiring. Anna was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and ability to connect with others.

  In 1979, she married the love of her life, Harold Melvin. Together they built a life centered on faith and family. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved.

  Anna found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. As a child, working and walking in the garden with her father fostered a love of plants and nature. She continued that legacy by building her own garden oasis with Harold at their Harrisburg home to share with their loved ones. She also loved traveling, especially riding the Blue Ridge Parkway while visiting the mountains of North Carolina. Many communities were blessed with her passion and dedicated participation, such as Rocky River Presbyterian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid collector of teapots and other beautiful things. She spent extensive time piecing together generations of family history through her dedicated study of genealogy. She valued family traditions, especially the beloved “Mimi and Papa Summer Camps” she shared with her grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, from generations before her to the generations to follow in her footsteps, some of whom called her “Mimi” or “Aunt Anna the Great2.” She deeply cherished every moment spent with family.

  She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Melvin; her son, Will (Melissa) Harris; her daughter, Julia (Brian) Brown; her grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Sarah, and Lauren; and her great-granddaughter, Elaine “Ellie”. She also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

  Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Clell and Beulah Hagler, and her brothers, Robert Hagler and Gerald Hagler.

  Anna was a shining example of how to love and accept people exactly for who they are, with no expectation of change. She lived a life loving like Jesus. Anna’s legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.

  Anna’s Celebration of Life will be held at Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, North Carolina on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Service will be held in the Sanctuary at 11:00 am followed by receiving in the Fellowship Hall.

  As Anna loved florals, pastels, and other beautiful things, the family will be dressed to honor such. You are welcome to join us in celebrating her love of the garden.
