Alice Ingram, of Concord, NC by way of West Virginia and New York City, passed away Monday, February 9th, 2026 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
Alice was born August 16th, 1943 in Charleston, West Virginia to parents George Thomas Wiggins and Virginia Tyler who have preceded her in death.
Alice grew up in Charleston, West Virginia, where she was known for her beautiful singing voice. It was there that she met her husband, Wilbert Ingram in Kimball, West Virginia, while he was performing in Charleston as part of a singing group. The two were married in 1965 and began building a life together. Determined to create a better future for their family, they made the decision to relocate from West Virginia to New York City in 1968. Always seeking a better environment for her children, the family first settled in Harlem, later moved to the Bronx, and eventually made their home in Queens, New York, where they purchased two homes. Alice worked as a retail salesperson for Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s, dedicating 30 years before retiring. She raised her children with love and Christian values, teaching them the importance of faith and caring for one another. She found deep joy and purpose in helping and serving others. A devoted woman of faith, Alice served alongside her husband as a deaconess in the church. Later in life, after studying and learning more about her heritage, she identified as a Hebrew Israelite. She joined the Gathering of Christ Church, where she was baptized and became a cherished member of the church body. Alice was also an exceptional cook. Her beloved dishes—fried chicken wings, lemon chicken, mushroom chicken, and her famous red velvet cake—will be dearly missed, along with the love she poured into every soul she encountered.
