Alan Wayson, born November 26, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Alan attended Northeastern University and studied mechanical engineering while serving in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps and working at Raytheon. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Following his active military service, Alan enjoyed a long and distinguished tenure at IBM, retiring as a senior engineer. He received multiple awards for his outstanding innovations and patents, a testament to his sharp mind, tireless curiosity, and dedication to excellence.

Beyond his professional life, Alan found joy in working with his hands and pursuing his passions. He loved building intricate models and target shooting. He also enjoyed sailing in Chatham, Massachusetts. He could often be found working on or driving his beloved Porsche. His interests reflected his creativity, precision, and zest for life. Alan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia; his daughter, Susan Santodonato; his sister, Hilary Murray; and his parents, Andrew and Mabel Wayson. He is survived by his son Thomas (Laura) of Owego, NY; his daughter Laura (Jens) of Arlington, TX; his son-in-lawPaul (Jeanette) Santodonato of Lancaster, NY; his brother-in-law Paul Murray of Bristol, ME; and his nephew Dr. Matthew (Tania) Murray of Waltham, MA. Alan will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Andrea (Chris) Szymanski, Ian Jungmann, Dr. Sarah (Greg) Wayson-Madejski, Katie (Chad) Anderson, Maria (Dan) Duggan, David Santodonato, and Emma (Mason) Jungmann; his great-grandchildren Clark and June Szymanski and Caroline Anderson; and his ever-faithful dog, Sky IV.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Lynn and Phil Tesh and their family, Alan’s neighbors, as well as the compassionate caregivers of Home Instead, for their devoted support and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
