Vernie Smith

Vernie Mae Smith, 87, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Spring Arbor of Albemarle.

Mrs. Smith was born January 15, 1931to the late Coil Brown and Lottie Mae Love. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Flave Warren Smith; son, Donnie Warren Smith; brother, Robert Love, and sister, Maude Holloman. Vernie was retired from Cannon Mills.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Red Cross Baptist Church, located at 112 W. Red Cross Rd., Oakboro. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace. Burial will conclude in the Church Cemetery.

Survivors include: one sister, Beedie Jean Mullis; daughter, Wanda Burnette; five grandchildren, Donnie "Charlie Brown" Smith and wife Myra, David Smith and wife Laura, Stacy Smith and wife Cassandra; Lakeisha Hopkins and husband Stanley, John Allen and girlfriend, Tara Skinner; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
