Thomas Downs

Thomas (Tom) Rea Downs, 61, of Mint Hill went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 29, 2019.

Tom was born August 14, 1958 in Charlotte to the late Franklin Downs and the late Betty Jamison Downs.

Tom graduated from Garinger High School ('76) and Montreat College ('78).  He worked at IBM for 20 years and Bellsouth/ATT until retirement.  Tom loved going to the beach, spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Most of all, Tom loved spending time with his beautiful wife, taking day trips to the mountains and going on long drives.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Brown Downs; their four children, Josh (Julie), Jared (Lauren), Sarah (Scott Furr), and Christa (Chris Brown); six grandchildren, Jackson, Cooper, Sadie Rea, Mason, Braedan, and Landon; brother, Tim (Daleen); and sister, Tracie (Jim Watts).

Services are private to celebrate Tom's life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tom's memory to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
