Tannas Tucker

October 28, 1940 — January 2, 2019

Tannas "Tim" Bascom Tucker, Jr., 78, of Concord, NC passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Tim was born October 28, 1940 in Concord, NC to the late Tannas Bascom Tucker Sr. and the late Maude Hinson Tucker.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Helen Hagler.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Ann Furr Tucker; daughter Melanie Tucker Edsall and husband Jason; grandson Matthew Jacob Edsall and granddaughter Alexandra Nicole Edsall; sister Peggy Ritchie and husband Hubert; sister Sadie Steen and husband Joe; niece Tammy Poole and husband Eric; niece Kim Stotesbury and husband Everett; nephew Dale Ritchie and wife Johnna; as well as many great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Tucker proudly served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1966.  His favorite memory of his Naval career was when he circumnavigated the globe on the maiden voyage of the USS Enterprise, the world's first nuclear powered aircraft carrier.  After returning home he cared for his family and served the Concord community as an auto body repairman for nearly 50 years.  In addition to many faithful and unrecognized acts, Tim served his church as a Deacon.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Broadus Baptist Church, 59 Green Street in Concord.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, officiated by Dr. Rev. Rodney Quesenberry and Rev. Jim Pritchett. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with military honors.

Memorials may be made to Broadus Baptist Church, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
