Steve Swink

July 30, 1942 — April 20, 2019

Concord

Steve was born in Cabarrus County on July 30,1942.  He passed away at his home on Saturday, April 20, 2019.  He passed in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ in the presence of his loving family.

Steve was a life long resident of Cabarrus County and served as a volunteer fireman at Flowes Store Fire Department for many years.  He was a member of Midland Lion's Club, and served as a deacon at Howell's Baptist Church, United Love Baptist Church, and Broadus Baptist Church.

Steve was a gentle man with a large personality.  It seemed that where ever he went that someone knew him.  He could fill a room with his smile and laughter.  Often he was the first to help a neighbor or friend with a project.  He was an avid repairman and builder.

Steve had many passions; however, his main love was his wife of 58 years, Sarah Helms Swink.  She was always his first priority in all things.  He always wanted to make sure that she was taken care of and never forgot a single special occasion.  In turn, she took care of him too.  In addition to being a wonderful husband, he was an amazing Dad and Paw-Paw.  He loved his children and was a great provider.  He taught them to be strong and to love others.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland.  The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at United Love Baptist Church in Midland, NC.

Steve leaves behind his wife, Sarah Helms Swink; daughter Lisa Kirby (Ken); son, Cliff Swink (Jennifer); grandchildren, Cyndal Brenneman (Aaron), Brittany Kincaid, Jesse Swink (Beth), and Carley Barbee (Trey); and two great-granddaughters, Morgan and Marley Brenneman.

The family would like to thank the Tucker Hospice House for their excellent care for Steve and the family.  Also, we want to thank our friends and family for their prayers and support during these difficult days.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Mercy and Grace Ministries and the Tucker Hospice House.
