Ryland Charnock

Ryland Ernest Charnock, 88, of Mint Hill, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

Ryland was born April 12, 1931 in Norfolk, VA to the late Ryland "Stanley" Charnock and Molly Lou McCoy Charnock.  He was also preceded in death by sister, Joan Charnock Prophett.

Ryland was a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corps.  He graduated from Virigina Tech in 1954.  Ryland retired from LOF Plastics as a National Sales Manager.  He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and the Pioneer Sunday School Class.  Ryland was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He will be dearly missed and forever loved.

Those left to cherish Ryland's memory include beloved wife of 38 years, Peggy Peacock Charnock; daughter, Katherine "Kay" C. Flint and husband, Bill; stepson, Jonathan D. McNair and wife, Kathy; stepson, Harry H. McNair and fiancée, Cathy Crosland, M.D.; stepdaughter, Kimberly M. Hill and husband, Scott; 6 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 8 step great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus, 420 Hopewell Church Rd, Monroe, officiated by Dr. Lee Pigg and Pastor Brian Autsin.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm, prior to the service at the church.  Following the service, Ryland will be laid to rest with military honors in the church cemetery.  Members of the Pioneer Sunday School Class will serve as pallbearers.
