Robert (Bob) Harvey

US Navy Veteran Robert (Bob) Alan Harvey, 67, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord.

Bob was born December 28, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Robert Deforest Harvey and the late Phyllis Fitzgerald Harvey.

Bob retired from the Civil Service as GS-15 after 31 years with Department of Defense as Director of Acquisitions with Naval Facilities Engineering Command.  After retirement from civil service Bob was employed by the towns of Oakboro and Stanfield as Town Administrator.

Bob’s favorite pastimes involved discussing politics with his family and friends, his love for classic cars, and bragging on his children. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakboro.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Osborne Harvey of Oakboro, NC; Sons, Matthew Hunter Harvey of Oakboro, NC, Craig Alan Harvey of Texas, and Garrett Austin Vereline of Michigan. Daughters, Alayna Brooke Harvey of Oakboro, NC and Christy Loren Castillo (Chris) of Texas; Grandchildren: Randy, Chris, and Matthew Castillo; Justin, Taylor, and Savannah Harvey; Great grandchildren Hayden Harvey and Levi Castillo.  Other survivors include his siblings Sandy Mitchell (Ron) of Michigan; Beverly Lohman (Ron) of Colorado; John Harvey (Dawn) of Arizona; Debby Haddy (Mike) of Arizona; and Carol Mabry (Mark) of New Mexico.

A private family service will be held August 11th in New Mexico.
