Martin Yanik Jr.

Martin “Marty” Michael Yanik Jr., age 64, passed away after an unexpected illness on Monday, February 5, 2018 at CHS Northeast in Concord, NC.

He was born March 6, 1953 in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, to Martin Sr. and Mary (Egolf) Yanik. A native of Sharpsville Pennsylvania, he was a 1971 graduate of Sharpsville High School and attended Thiel College in Greenville, PA.

He married Mary Ellen Cooper on June 23, 1973.  For most of his life, he worked as an Industrial Sales Executive, and was at the top of his field.  He loved meeting new people and making “Cold Calls” …he had the gift of gab, and especially closing deals.  Anyone who met him, instantly liked him and knew what a good man he was.
In his spare time, Marty enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, reading, cooking pizzas in his brick pizza oven, and taking his grandson to visit the train museum.
He was an active member of the Boardman, Ohio Optimist Club for many years, organizing fundraisers and acting as President.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Mary, daughters Marla (Mike) Guerity of Concord and Megan (Derrick) Horn of Midland, as well as nieces, nephews, and two grandchildren, Sophia and Cooper of Concord, who he adored.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Sr., mother, Mary (Egolf), and sisters Marianne Marshall and Darlene Collins.

The receiving of family and friends will take place on Saturday, February 10th at 4:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Drive NE, Concord. A memorial service will be held immediately afterwards at 5:00 pm.
