Obituary

Mae Eury Vanderburg, 94 years and 353 days old, of Concord, passed away at 8:35 am Monday, August 12, 2019.

Mae was born August 24, 1924 in Mecklenburg County to the late Noah Alexander Eury and the late Sarah Elizabeth Conner Eury.  She was also preceded in death by husband, John Nathan Vanderburg in 2008; sisters, Elizabeth Barrier and Martha Bigham; and brothers, Robert J. Eury and John Eury.

Mae was very active throughout her life and especially enjoyed crocheting, gardening, tending her flowers and cooking.  She took pleasure in attending church weekly at Center UMC.  She dearly loved her dogs, especially Little Bit.  Mae was a loving mother and grandmother.  She will be dearly missed and forever loved.    

Survivors include daughter, Ellen Vanderburg of Concord; son, John F. Vanderburg of Concord; daughter, Doris V. Williams of Kannapolis; granddaughter, Meredith Williams and husband, Anthony Wyatt, of Cincinnati,OH; great-grandson, Damien Williams-Wyatt; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Center United Methodist Church, 1119 Union St S, Concord.  The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Tony Allen and Rev. De Hillyer.  Burial will follow at Howells Baptist Church Cemetery, 3800 Baptist Lane, Concord.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County or Center UMC.
