Linda Kiser

March 30, 1951 — November 3, 2018

Ms. Kiser, 67 , passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. To honor her requests, a service to celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:30-2:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Linda, a Spruce Pine NC native, was a retired executive director for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1969 and received her undergraduate degree in elementary education from East Carolina University. She went on to obtain a Master’s Degree from UNCC and a Ph.D. from Winthrop University.

Over the next 36 years she taught, loved, and changed the lives of countless children in both Cabarrus County Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She was very close to her church family at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, where she served in various capacities such as Deacon, Elder, Chair of the Pre-school, Youth and Teen Advisor, as well as numerous other church committees.

In 1973 she married the love of her life, Tom Kiser, and together they raised two sons, Joshua and Jonathan. Linda was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a “Mama Lou” to her seven grandchildren. Linda loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. Linda was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Linda is preceded in death by her mother, Nell Garden Crowder, her father-in-law, Fred Luther Kiser, and the love of her life Thomas (Tom) Grier Kiser. She is survived by her two adoring sons, Joshua Lee and Jonathan Britt, both of Harrisburg; two wonderful daughters-in-law, Heidi Greene Kiser, wife of Jonathan; and Brandy Kiser, wife of Joshua; and seven beautiful grandchildren, Haley Brooke, Noah Thomas, Colby Edward, Katelyn Marie, Kolton Grier, Jesicka Crouse, and Dilin Wetherford. She is also survived by her father, Lance Crowder of Charlotte; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan Crowder and Brad Morrison of Terrell, NC; her mother-in-law, Betty Kiser of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Melinda Beardsworth and husband, Terry, of Charlotte; and a host of special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In the last 2 years of her illness, she met everyone with a smile and courage to face what was ahead. Due to the uniqueness of her character and her requests, she wanted her homecoming to be a happy, but simple time. She truly felt that no matter what happened, she was a winner. Linda wanted all to know of her strong faith in the Lord. Due to her strong belief, memorials in her honor may be made to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church forward by faith Building Fund at 1600 Mallard Creek Church Road, West Charlotte, NC 28262, in lieu of flowers.
