Laura Penninger

Mrs. Laura Hammonds Penninger, 77, of Concord and Sherrills Ford, NC passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at her home.

Laura was born on January 28, 1941 to the late Hubert Hammonds and late Irene King Hammonds.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Hammonds.

Laura spent her career of 40 years at General Electric in Charlotte, and retired to Lake Norman where she enjoyed gardening, boating and spending time with her family and friends.  She also enjoyed her time with her husband and family during their time together in Pawley’s Island, SC.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years Mack Penninger, Concord and Sherrils Ford, NC, son M. Wayne Penninger Jr., Charlotte, NC,  sister Olivia Wilson, N. Myrtle Beach, SC, brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Danny Penninger, Harrisburg, NC, sister-in-law Mrs. Carol Pickrel, Troutman, NC, several nieces and nephews, extended adopted family, and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August, 18, 2018, from 9:00 - 10:45 am, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, NC.   The celebration of life service will follow immediately in the chapel at 11:00 am and will be officiated by the Rev. Liz Fisher.
