Laura Medlin

Laura Mae Thomas Medlin, 96, of Huntersville, formerly of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Medlin was born October 1, 1921 in New Salem, to the late Martin and Mattie Thomas.  She was also preceded in death by husband, Byron Buford "B.B." Medlin; sister, Emma Mullis; and four brothers, Laney, James Onas, Roy and McLain Thomas.

Survivors include son, Gene Buford (Linda) Medlin of Cornelius; daughter, Shirley Hatley of Locust; granddaughters, Susan Medlin and Cindy Smith; grandsons, Michael Hatley, Jr. and Phillip Hatley; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Laura Medlin's life will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 13575 Broadway Avenue, Midland, NC  28107 and will be officiated by Charlie Higgins.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Oakboro Cemetery.
