John "J.B." Howell, Jr.

John "J.B." Howell, Jr., 81, of Charlotte, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, peacefully at home with family by his side.

J.B. was born February 16, 1936 in Charlotte to the late John Baxter Howell, Sr. and Ida Pressley Howell.  He married the love of his life, Patsy Yvonne Owens, in 1956.  Mrs. Patsy Howell passed away in 2013.  He loved bowling and watching country and western movies.  He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and wrestling.  He retired from Dixie trucking as a trailer mechanic.  J.B. was a loving husband, father, PawPaw and great-grandfather.

J.B. is survived by five children: Wayne (Pam) Howell, Cissy (John Gogola) Thomas, Debbie (Mark) Smith, Robert Howell and John B. (Lisa) Howell, III.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, James Howell; sister, Nancy Rodgers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 7:00 pm Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Harrisburg, officiated by Rev. Ron Hudson.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 5:00 pm.
