John Gibson

John Boyce Gibson, 76, of Concord, NC passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury.

John was born June 20, 1943 in Gastonia, NC to the late Clyde Wesley Gibson and the late Mary Alice Rednour Gibson.

Survivors include his sister, Rae Joyce Yarbrough and husband Eddie of Concord, NC; nephew Dale Yarbrough and wife Lori; nephew Scott Yarbrough and wife Stephanie; as well as four great nephews and two great nieces.

John was a volunteer fireman with the Harrisburg Fire Department in his teen years.  He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966.  John loved the mountains, fishing and his dogs.    The family would like to thank the staff at Carillon of Harrisburg where John lived the past three and a half years until needing more skilled care.  A special thank you to the staff at the Veterans Home of Salisbury and Pruitt Health Hospice for their loving care over the past month.

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 2:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, 12115 University City Blvd., Harrisburg, NC 28075.  The family will have a time of fellowship with friends following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's memory to North Carolina State Veterans Home, PO Box 599, Salisbury, NC 28144 or Pruitt Health Hospice, 924 Main St., N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
