Jimmy Russell

Jimmy Loyd Russell, 70 years of age, of New London, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle .

Mr. Russell was born February 24, 1947 in Stanly County to the late Loyd Jesse Russsell and the late Jewell Beavers. He was also preceded in death by step mother, Carol Russell; a sister, Ann R.Smith; and a granddaughter, Alison Nicole Russell.

Jimmy was retired from J.T. Russell and Sons. He enjoyed going to the beach and flying his airplane. Jimmy loved his Church family and lived his faith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 22, 2018  at 1:00 PM at Plyler Baptist Church, 25958 Austin Road in Albemarle officiated by Pastor Brian Franklin. Mr. Russell will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include wife of 52 years, Jeanette Russell of New London; sons, Tony Loyd Russell of Richfield and Terry Dale Russell and wife Lynn of New London;  sisters, Ramona R. Clark and husband Bobby of New London, Teresa R. Tucker and husband Mike of Albemarle, and Sha R. Montore and husband Joe of Farmville, VA;  brother, Ricky Russell and wife Linda of New London, and grandchildren, Miranda Russell of Richfield,  Joseph Schumacher of Charlotte, and Jonathan Hathaway of Concord.
