Jackie Godwin

Jackie Deal Godwin 50, of Harrisburg, NC passed away following a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Jackie was born March 13, 1968, in Boone, NC to Jim Deal and Melinda Robinson Chambers.  The mountains never left Jackie’s spirit and as such,  she was a loyal Mountaineer.  Not only was Jackie a fierce Appalachian Mountaineer, she was a fierce friend to everyone she met.

Jackie spent a great deal of her time in service to church and various civic activities.  She loved every job she ever had, but her true passion was working with the special needs students at Pitts School Road Elementary.  To celebrate her victories over cancer, Jackie fearlessly participated in Burn Boot Camp, Spartan Races and many other physical endeavors.

Those left to treasure Jackie’s memory, include her beloved husband of 15 years, Rob Godwin; cherished sons, Spencer and Cooper Godwin; mother, Melinda (Rick) Chambers of Roxboro; father Jim (Shelia) Deal of Boone; sisters, Blair (Dee)DeLoatche, Brook (Chris) Carrigan, Tyler (David Gray) Deal, Samantha Deal; brother, Tucker Deal; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

The funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 12, 2018, at Westford United Methodist Church, 273 Hwy 49 South in Concord, officiated by Rev. Jeffery Rushing and Dr. David Chambers. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm-1:45 pm, prior to the service at the church.  Jackie will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 13th at noon at Mt. Lawn Memorial Park, 521 Old East King St., Boone.

The family would like to thank the many friends who have provided loving care to Jackie and her family  during her illness.  Also special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for her and to Serenity House of Mooresville for their kindness and love during her final days.  For all the many acts of kindness extended to this family, we are eternally grateful.
