Grace Small

Grace Small, 93, died August 19, 2019 at Pruitt Health Town Center in Harrisburg.  She was born on May 31st, 1926 in Cabarrus County.  She was the daughter of Harry Bernard and Blanche Elsie Williams Iley.

Grace was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Boyce Edward Small, her sisters Alma Iley Morris, Maxine Iley Matthews, Bernice Iley Roe and Mildred Iley Green and brothers Bryce Baxter Iley, William Boyd Iley and Byron Iley.

She is survived by her son Boyce Edward Small Jr. and wife Bettie Lou Small, her daughter Donna Kay Small Smith and her husband Dennis Smith, and her only grandson Michael Alexander Small. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Dr. Martha Strawn Iley and many nieces and nephews.

Most of her married life with Boyce was spent in Greensboro, NC, where they raised their children and were active members of Guilford Baptist Church.  After her husband, Boyce passed away in 1973, she decided to move back to Harrisburg to live with her children on the family land inherited from her parents.  She continued to serve her family and community with zeal, her radiant smile and sincere faith. She there joined her children as members of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.

Grace was a beloved wife, mother, sister,  grandmother and friend.

The Memorial Service for Grace will be held this coming Sunday August 25th: visitation will begin at 2:00 to greet family and friends, and the Memorial Service following at 3:00, both will be at Hartsell Funeral Home at 12115 University City Blvd, Harrisburg, NC 28075

The Reverend John Harrill from Hickory Grove Baptist Church will be officiating.  Interment will follow afterwards at the West Concord Cemetery in Concord, NC.
