Fred Polk

May 12, 1927 — March 19, 2018

Fred Thomas Polk, 90 years of age, of Monroe, NC passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Jesse Helms Center in Monroe.

Fred was born May 12, 1927 in Union County, to the late Eli Franklin Polk and the late Fronnie Ann Rushing Polk.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Addie Bell Tucker Polk; as well as ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include daughters, Judy Medlin and husband Zack of Monroe and Peggy Pressley and husband Dennis of Monroe; sister-in-law Pauline Polk; grandchildren Kirk Medlin and wife Karen, Alan Medlin and Marty Pressley and wife Janet; two great granddaughters Tamsen Medlin and Maddy Pressley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Polk proudly served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947.  He was stationed in Germany where he was a cook.  Fred had a passion for carpentry and produced some beautiful pieces of woodwork.  He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM - 3:00PM on Thursday, March 22nd, at Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 7918 Crooked Creek Church Road in Monroe, NC.  The funeral service will immediately follow officiated by Elder Larry Austin.  Burial will take place in the church cemetery with military honors.
