Earl Barringer

September 25, 1918 — July 16, 2018

Earl Jacob Barringer, 99, of Concord, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at Salisbury VA Liberty Lane Hospice House.

Mr. Barringer was born September 25, 1918 in Rowan County to the late John David Barringer and the late Cora Virginia Graham Barringer.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Thelma Graham Barringer; granddaughter, Ginger Dettmering; brothers, Herman, Ray, & Ira "Doc" Barringer; and sisters, Fannie Blackwelder and Nell Higgins.

Mr. Barringer proudly served in the Navy Air Corps during World War II in French Morroco.  After the war, he worked as a mechanical engineer for 47 years at Cannon Mills until his retirement.  Mr. Barringer was a member of Oasis Shriners and Cabarrus Masonic Lodge #720.  He was a member of Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church.  He was very active in The Methodist Men and chaired the Trustee Committee of the church.

Survivors include daughter, Patricia B. (Chuck) Harriman of Leland; son, Dennis (Dana) Barringer of Harrisburg; daughter, Jane B. (David) Price of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Charlie, Laura, and Derek; six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Zachary, Charles, Hannah, Nash, and Charlee; brother, Joe Barringer of Concord; and sister, Norma Jean Clements of Durham.

Services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church, 1428 Old Charlotte Rd SW, Concord.  The family will receive friends from 10 - 10:45 am. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. Greg Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Hospice of Cabarrus County or The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford or Rocky Ridge UMC Building Fund.
