Bernard Barbee

Bernard "BJ" James Barbee, 84 years of age, of Concord, NC passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

BJ was born February 17, 1933 in Concord, NC to the late Beachum J. Barbee and the late Ada Lee Barbee Goodman.
He was also preceded in death by his late wife Clara Barker Barbee; brother Jack Olin Barbee; and sister Martha "Carol" Barbee Lambert.

Survivors include his wife Jerilyn Hurst Barbee; daughter Stephanie Barbee Dauphinais; son Joey Barbee and wife Karen; daughter Rena Barbee Goolsby and husband Le; grandchildren Paul Dauphinais, Bryson Goolsby and Mason Goolsby; great grandchildren Andrew Dauphinais; sister in law Doris Barbee; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

As a young man, Mr. Barbee proudly served in the United States Army.  He was a former deputy of the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department, and later retired from Celanese in Charlotte.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 25th at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Mark Hill of First Baptist Church - Kannapolis.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.  Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Barbee family.
