Howard Thomas

H oward Shelton Thomas, 80, of Stanfield, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at his home.

Howard was born October 7, 1941 in Stanly County to the late Henry Washington Thomas and the late Elsie Wilma Drye Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his son, Phillip Bradley Thomas; and siblings, Vann Thomas, Beatrice Hatley, Houston Thomas, Jeanette Hinson, and Jerry Thomas.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Friday, October 15, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service to celebrate his life will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel, officiated by Pastor Jeff Springer. He will be buried at Big Lick Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mildred Coble Thomas; daughters, Starla (Brian) Hall, Dana (Jay) Palmer; five grandchildren, Jamey Love, Jordan (Jennifer) Baucom, Jessica (Zack) Bowman, Meleah Palmer, Andrew Palmer; six great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Brenda) Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a simple hardworking man who loved his family.
